Yesterday I picked up my agenda for the new Board’s first public Board meeting. Lots of reading material for the weekend! I dug in for about an hour today but will need to spend another hour or so before Tuesday night’s meeting.
On the agenda: electing new officers, re-adopting the Board’s by-laws and procedures, a first reading of the Superintendent’s proposal for spending the Public Education Enrichment Fund (Prop. H) for 2009-10, and a busload of expenditure requests on the consent calendar. Might be a long night!
The meeting is open to the public and will be held in the Board Room at 555 Franklin St. (at McAllister) starting at 6 p.m. If you can’t attend, you can listen to the meeting online or on the radio at KALW, 91.7 FM, or watch streaming video at SFGov TV.
Today my daughter’s elementary school held our community conversation to gather input for our 2009-10 scorecard. The discussion was thoughtful and earnestly engaged around equity, social justice and achievement issues. I’m really excited by some of the ideas that were floated. I hope other school communities are feeling the same optimism!
