This week I had the pleasure of attending the Special Olympics Basketball Skills Day for Elementary and Middle School students (and the honor of proclaiming the games open!). Special Olympics events have been going on all year — soccer in the Fall, basketball going on now, and track and field later in the spring.
These are always great events, and the kids have a great time. Their parents and teachers seem to enjoy it as well. I had a great time visiting with new and old friends. Enjoy the photos!
And last but not least, a shout out to Paul Zager, the SFUSD coordinator of the Special Olympics, and Bonnie Silverman, the regional Director of the organization. Thank you both for doing such a great job on these events!

Thanks Rachel for a nice shout out! I look forward to seeing you at events in the future (May 15 at Kezar Stadium for out track meet where I’m projecting over 400 students participating!).
