Late yesterday afternoon, the Public Employment Review Board (PERB) agreed with the district’s determination that current negotiations with UESF had reached impasse. The next step is for PERB to appoint a neutral mediator to try to bring the parties to an agreement. Superintendent Garcia communicated this news in an email to district employees this morning.
To help members of the public follow the twists and turns of this difficult negotiation, I’ve created a labor negotiations issues page to collect updates from each side as they occur. It’s possible, however, that the as-yet-unappointed mediator may impose a gag order on both sides, so information may not be in great supply.
