  2. Thanks for sharing, Rachel. This is very interesting. The choices for how to examine the schools reveal a lot about the ways that patterns and structures of inequity that continue to permeate and shape our culture and society take concrete form in the lives of our children and their families.
    Looking at the CTIP color-coded maps, is it any surprise that you find more advocacy for “neighborhood schools” in the west and central parts of the city than in the east? I appreciate the board’s dedication to pursuing equity for all of our children and resisting the forces that institutionalize disparity. Clearly we have a ways to go, and it’s a marathon, not a sprint. I encourage you and the rest of the board to keep chipping away.
