Tonight I was installed as a Commissioner on the San Francisco Board of Education along with Sandra Fewer, Jill Wynns and Norman Yee. Mayor Gavin Newsom did my swearing-in ceremony (and enjoyed Jackie’s exuberant adoration). It was a lovely ceremony and an amazing evening overall. My heartfelt thanks to the many friends & family members who came out to share it with me! Video of the ceremony following the jump.

Rachel- congratulations! My sister lives in S.F. and will have a baby around March. That baby will have a promising future as result of you leading the way and making extraordinary changes for all children of San Francisco.
